Big thanks! + Future Plans! + Bonus Image!

GobStory Devlog #0

Yeah, I start counting at 0, like a computer. Whatcha gonna do about it?

Anyway, I just wanted to write this up in response to hitting 100 downloads on my little minimum-effort test project.

I seriously can't thank you wonderful people enough for being willing to check it out, its really encouraged me to go back to it and make something even better. I thank you and Cassie thanks you as well.

Before anyone starts guarding their wallet, not to worry. I will never charge or ask for donations for my projects unless and until I am collaborating with a real artist or composer or something of that nature. I'm obviously not ready for that phase yet, I have a long way to go. Please support real artists.

So in the meantime, I hope you will enjoy future changes and updates to GobStory as well as potential new projects from me, Spookymirror.

Full disclosure, I have no plans for other projects at the moment, I'm just sayin' it could happen. You never know when inspiration can strike.

Now lets get to a bit of the nitty-gritty. Say that 5 times fast.

You've all been extremely kind in taking my work for what it is and not criticizing, which is great because I do enough of that myself.

My criticisms, and things that will likely be addressed in future versions of my VN are:

-Cassira, Cassira: How much Goblin is she really? Does she not feel more like a Human girl with Goblin skin and ears? If thats the case, I need to either explain that or make her a bit more Goblin-like in her personality. Still gentle and kind, but maybe a bit more mischievous? Maybe adding cute quirks like being distracted by shiny things. All this to say, I recognize that she is a bit of a bland character and I have ideas to work on that.

-The Sound of Silence: Considering the fact that I made the prototype in a day, there wasn't really time for me to dig in to learning about adding music and sounds to my ren'py project. Much less time to go digging for copyright-free samples to use. However, if this is going to be a more long-term project for me theres no reason I can't figure something out to break the silence.

-This one should go without saying, but I WILL FIX THE IMAGE SIZES. I was pretty mad at myself when I had generated a bunch of images for the VN (but kinda before I planned the VN idk its complicated) but I didn't think to make them the proper size. Hence, you have the square images making up the graphics of the game. Next release, they will be 16:9 aspect ratio the way the Goblin Gods intended.

-Sweet poses and transitions, I'm working out a way to generate re-usable character poses, bringing the project more in line with how other ren'py projects are made instead of just making every image a background. I haven't fully tested it yet, my main concern is getting consistent clothing but I'm sure I can figure something out. And of course, using some transitions to make scenes a bit more dynamic. Its just another one of those things that I didn't have time to learn in the 20 minutes I gave myself to study this stuff.

That being said, I am just one person and I do work for a living so I can't guarantee any kind of timetable for any of this. I will try to update this blog with my progress as necessary, though.

Before we go, Cassie is just overwhelmed by all the support and she would really like a hug. Any takers?
